Travertine Floor CleanerIt is you, your floor or your own floor

Did you know ... 20% of the stone, tile and grout floor restoration work is the result of inappropriate "cleaning?" Women tale that vinegar is a wonderful grout cleaner is just that: a tale of women. Vinegar proves bleach and can give the appearance of cleaning as it degrades the appearance of grout in the way. Coulis and many stone surfaces are acid sensitive. Vinegar and well off the platform tile, grout and floor cleaners tend to be acidic. Acidic solutions have long been recognized as a good "cleaning." Unfortunately, acidic cleaners can have a negative impact on surfaces.

So how do you clean the floors, stone, grout and tile? First, clearly our definitions of clean. Cleanliness is the absence of dirt or oil on the surface. This can be accomplished with a neutral pH stone cleaner. This is an excellent product to maintain your floors, but if the damage has already been done, we must look elsewhere to restore the surface to its original appearance.

Have white spots or rings returning after their own? CaCO3 stones such as limestone, marble, travertine and salturnia to name a few attack in the presence of an acid. The acid dissolves the rock causing Pitts microscopic surface. The Pitts showed that dull areas or loss of gloss first, forming white spots, if the injury is more serious. The stains, rings and "waterspots" disappear when cleaned with water, to reappear once the stone is dry. Water fills these pits effectively turning a smooth continuous surface reflection to the stone, effectively making the damaged areas difficult to see. Then, when the water evaporates, they reappear.

So what should we do to get rid of the dull areas and white spots? Light etching and white spots can be removed with a polishing compound such as Gold Plus Gloss Restorer. This material is designed to allow an owner to polish small areas of stone engraved with the election into a shiny stone. In severe cases where you can physically feel the damage, the brightness can be returned, but a professional stone craftsman will be necessary at the stone for a coherent thought.

How about clean my grout? In the case of grout, vinegar and acidic solutions can dissolve the dyes and pigments used to color the grout, grout discoloration over time. On a grout white or color that may not be sensitive, but a tan or darker grout you can be a commercial aspect of a stained lighter than normal appearance. Again, a neutral pH cleaner is the safest most effective way to clean your grout sealed. Failing to close or seal your stone and grout surfaces a few years opens up the surface staining risks. Once stained the cost and effort required to correct the problem may greatly exceed the cost of periodic preventive maintenance.

What should I do about the spots that do not clean grout? Stains results when a spill or dirty mop water penetrates into the pores of grout tile unsealed or carrying with it the colors of the spill or liquid. To avoid this or reduce the risk of staining. It is important to your stone and grout surfaces to be sealed. This should be done with a penetrating sealer if you want a solution that does not alter the finish of stone or color, or a topical sealer if you are looking to boost the brightness or change in color of grout. Although there are many claims of longevity of joints, most joints must be replenished every two years or more. If the surface becomes a light and moist beads in place when the water is spritzed on it, you probably need to close your surface. In case of doubt or interested in what you do even the most stone maintenance companies can manage on your behalf.

If you have the misfortune to read what you deplore yo.
