Is a pre-filter required for my oven? The previous owner of my house installed a furnace and the very complex system of air purification. Trane XV80 is an oven with a double filtration Perfect Fit System Cleaner and an electronic Purfier Sanuvox Ultraviolet Air.
Some time ago, there were frequent static discharge from the bottom of the furnace near the furnace that meets the tunnel inlet. After investigation, I determined that there was a metal pre-filter on the bottom of the oven right below the two electronic modules clean. The discharge of static electricity was from near the pre-filter. I decided to clean the pre-filter, but I damaged during removal and had to throw.
I was not sure if the electronic cleaner, must pre-filter, so I removed the cleaner electronic modules and replace them with a standard 5 "thick replaceable filter and were run like that since.
What I want to know is if I can put the cleaner electronic modules back in the metal, without pre-filter or if I need to find a replacement pre-filter. The pre-filter size is 17 "x25" x1 "and I can not find a replacement filter of this size.
The oven is a substantive contribution and sits on a sort of tunnel inlet. There is a filter on the metal screen at the end of the tunnel where it meets the wall of my living room.
You should have a pre-filter. It captures large particles before the air filter mail. You can purchase a metal filter of a supplier of refrigeration. As DCP, ARS, U.S. Air, or air filter company.
You did well. The electronic air cleaners are not all they are cracked up to be. Have you or someone else in your house have asthma? If yes, then an electronic air cleaner is the worst thing to have, because they emit a small amount of ozone is not good for someone with asthma. The American Lung Association does not recommend them for people with conditions such as asthma for this reason. You are much better with the filter media and you save electricity too. Just leave it as it is and you'll be better.
I agree about electronic air cleaners that produce ozone. The Sanuvox is a good unit, do not remove it, but what we usually recommend that you remove the electronic cell in the Trane air filter and replace it with an electronic panel Electro Breeze air clean. There is only 1 mm thick and requires no pre-filter or do not produce ozone. The media is electrically charged to attract particles as they are naturally charged. The Electro Breeze Group is 97% efficient to 0.3 microns compared to 5 "thick pleated 20% at 0.3 microns. Custom sizes are no problem, just type in your size when ordering.
Another thing to consider with the electronic air cleaner Trane is the high energy consumption. The Electro Breeze will cost you about $ 1.82 a year's use of electricity, where the Trane could cost up to $ 30 per month.
Change in the breeze Electro sounds like it may be easier to maintain in your oven as well. I hope this helps.
