safe household cleaners and air fresheners? I recently read an article about the toxins and I have a Sun Conjure (Small Parrot) needs to know that I can use for general household cleaning and cooling air that will not be detrimental to the bird
There is not much, you can use around birds at all. I use natural cleaners, but always put the birds in camera and leave the windows open in the house for 1 hour. Better safe than sorry. Never use aerosols of any kind that can kill birds very quickly. They called these wipes to clean crap out and have a pleasant smell to them. They can be used on and in the cages of birds too. If I want to deodorize the house I boil water and drop a few sticks of cinnamon with an apple. Note also that all pans are Teflon toxic to birds contain chemicals that can kill if it overheats dry. Even with the self-cleaning ovens. List goes on and on. No scented candles either. The birds are difficult, but soooo worth it. :)
NO air freshener safely. NO scented candles, incense not. If it gives any perfume is actually the air pollution, even if it feels good.
Most cleaners have labels that say whether or not they are pet safe. Most "green" cleaners are pets, but you really need to read labels.
