all I can say is buy good quality equipment such as rings and Fuji reel seats and also use an epoxy resin finish to the white and use to fry over high
Many places online, as indicated, but I recommend you go to a local shop front as much as possible, so you can see what you get, compare white and practical advice. (At least in So. Cal, more than half of the face of independent stores selling building supplies, metal rods, so you can get some good advice there.)
It's probably best if you first copy of a stem ending - Departing rod production made the same empty for more details as the number and types of guides, spacing, etc., and to see what your finished rod will feel like.
Regarding advice for a beginner, the first thing is to make a durable fishing rod used. Do not skimp on the glue holding the handle in place - if it slips mainly to strip the stem down to re-do it. Make sure the guides are aligned, keep the wire tight as you wrap, no gaps or overlaps, to work with clean hands to avoid staining the thread, do not be afraid to undo and redo of a film if you mess up. Do not rush.
Fancy packaging is nice, but do not worry about the models and so on until you can make a functional pin.

For fun check Golden Witch
beautiful things for the construction of the stem, they used to make vintage guides marker agate.

for advice, do not be afraid to experiment and mess.
Do not buy all the stuff they try to sell either! I still use a cassette with the cover torn off for an engine rod dry!
If you can find old stems at low prices, pick them up. Sometimes you can get neat old materials, and at least have plenty of rods to practice on.
Sometimes, the kits are the way forward, not only for convenience, but to save time. Once you have built a few that you know everything on top of your head what things to buy. In a kit, they are provided. St. Croix rods have kits Nice, and I believe has some mudhole.
Glad to see this and I hope I can be a little help. I Build rods, now only part time, but made a full-time living it. Part I fr.
