Do you need phantom power to plug a microphone into an amp condencer normal? Yes, any condenser mic needs a power source to bias the diaphragm. Some capacitors used AA batteries cheaper, but most of all use 48V phantom power.
Joss - Condenser microphones need phantom power when you're plugging them into a mixer or a mic amp with a 3-pin XLR type jack. You can not plug a condenser microphone in a guitar amp - it will not work.
3 Pin XLR MIC looks like this:

When you buy a phantom power and you get the right adapter cable, you can plug a condenser microphone in a guitar amp, but its bad microphones for guitar amplifiers. You need a PA system, if you will amplify microphones.
