Grout Gun

If you ask the average person grout, they just think that the grout is grout and that's all. But there is more complicated than that! Did you know there are three main types of grout ? There are cement-based grout, epoxy grout, grout and furan resin. And of these, then there are two broad categories - non-sanded and sanded.
Sanded grout is used for 1 / 8 "or more joints, and sand grout used for joints less than or equal to 1 / 8", even if you can get away with using two 1 / 8 "accurate joints. I'll go to each type of grout and what makes them so different.

1. Grout cement: This type is found within and shortcake shortcake Non-varieties, in the form of powder or pre-mixed. It is used most often for projects of do-it-yourself, because it is easier to work with and clean. It is weaker than the epoxy grout, though.


2. Furan Resin Grout: This type of grout is available in both sanded and non-frosted varieties. Instead of containing water, it is alcohol based. For this reason, it has a very high chemical resistance. However, it is usually only in black and does not require coating the tiles with wax before applying, but also remove excess grout by steam cleaning. For these reasons, it is not the most practical choice for a project do-it-yourself.

3. Epoxy Grout: Epoxy grout is more expensive than other types of grout and is resistant to water. These joints are very effective for tiles that require a high degree of water and stain resistance (such as counters).

There are two other types as well but not so common that the previous three.

- Amended latex sanded grout: This sauce is similar to grout, but has added a degree of resistance to water and the binding characteristics which makes it ideal for bathrooms, countertops and backsplashes that could be exposed to high humidity.

- Caulking Grout: The slurry is squeezed from a tube in his hand or a caulking gun. These caulking joints to match the color of cement brands and are very difficult to achieve for filling joints.
