My sister and I saw the article yesterday, today we believe that this could have been what killed our dog. Because we were giving the brand Wal-Mart dog food wet. We always gave him dry food, but he got sick and we had to give him wet food and we got to Wal-Mart, which is probably why he wasen't getting better, and now he's dead . They printed the article too late.

I work for a holistic veterinarian and we would not say one of our client that Iams or Eukanuba are good brands of food. When people ask me why, first, I tell them to read the ingredients. The first thing on the list (dry formula) is corn or wheat, then something else, then possibly a meat "by product". Do you know what a product is? When you go to the bathroom, thats a by-product. Ok maybe a bit extreme. A by product is that all parties ordinarlly theown far in business human meat. This includes the head, intestines, feathers, hooves, etc. My question is what you really want to feed your pet? Most of us look to our pets as part of our family if you eat that stuff? Looking for a look that feed on the ingredients. The first 3 or at least the first two ingredients should be meat, lamb, chicken or beef. Just the word meat. Also another is the meat meal such as lamb meal or chicken meal is the real meat with all the liquid removed and put into powder. Meat is the best real course. Pet food companies had to list in order of what is in their diet so if corn is the first on my list and meat is the third this food is composed of grains moslty. Dogs need protein too. Another thing to watch are chemical additives. Look for natural tocopherols as preservatives or fat. Stay away from BHA BHT nitrites and chemical additives other than natural vitamins. I have a list that I know to be the man of quality meat without chemical additives. Most of these brands can be found in chain stores rather than small pet.

It is also preferable to feed your pet canned rather than dry. Another food that are good first Steve and Bravo. It is allowed and the best way to feed you pet home cooked. While noting that things should be an adjunct to diet cook at home for your pet as fatty acids and bone-meal and other things.
