CAUTION: Hydrochloric acid is a highly reactive liquid acid, and one of the most dangerous substances, you can buy Home use.Muriatic acid is sold in concentrations of acid and 31.45% Standard 68 55% of inert ingredients, mainly water.
A masonry surface becomes rough, or "burnt" when it reacts with strong acids. When the powder residue from the reaction (calcium carbonate) is flushed, you end up with a very clean surface.
Hydrochloric acid is not the first choice for cleaning masonry, but the last resort. Do not use this dangerous chemical, unless you are sure you have no other choice.
Mechanical cleaning methods such as sandblasting, grinding wheels and specialty power tools for cleaning the lines of mortar in bricks and concrete blocks may be preferable to hydrochloric acid.
