Degreasing Tank

What is a household chemical I can use to degrease a tank of gas before you use the solution to remove rust. Would bleaching work? Any suggestion / expire restoration of the gas tanks would be very useful!

I followed the kit in step 3 KBS Coatings for a permanent restoration. Step # 1 is a heavy water-based cleaners will remove gum, varnish and fuel residues. It is also not clear foaming rinses residue & W / o leave. Step # 2 is RustBlast, effectively removes rust and leaves a film of zinc for adhesion sealing well. Step # 3 is Gold Standard Tank Sealer to cure rock hard, fuel and water resistant, it remains flexible to expand / contract with tank.
Choose the repair kit tank the size of your tank.

When your gas tank is rusting, it is better to leave him alone. Any attempt to remove the rust would make matter worse, not long before your gas tank would have a package on it. Chemical that removes rust also corrode the metal. The best you can do right now is to plaster up with rusty equipment rust.

suggestions above requires that you completely remove the tank. unless yo have it ot the car, I suggest you leave this job to a workshop.
