Carpet OdorHow do I get rid of the smell of carpet?

My teenage son is smelly carpet. Really smelly. The carpet was there when I married my husband, and is probably twenty years. I would just rip it out, but he seems really, really good. The soil under the concrete slab, it is. It has a musty smell / smelly, hot and sometimes actually in the hallway of the living room. I shampooed the carpet several times, twice, I used Febreeze full power in shamp; ooer tanks ..... This works very well. For a few days. At present we can not new carpet, and this is just crazy. All suggestions will be appreciated.

take shampoo, as you have been (2x/wk) and air - keep windows open as much as possible for ventilation - fresh air is totally undervalued. Also get a dehumidifier for use after shampooing your carpet. They also have an odor remover liquid to add shampoo into the machine - it works pretty well. If it's just unbearable that tear then paint and seal the concrete floor of her .. you can make it look really cool ... get him an area rug instead of a rebate if you do not like the only concrete idea.

Try Febreeze

You trapped odors in upholstery. old carpet (in my experience) can be pulled up and start over, without damage. If you go to this extreme, you should replace it. The padding must be replaced. It may be mold and below. I wish I could help, but the carpet really needs to be replaced along with the pad.

I would just sprinkle carpet fresh and let it sit for about 10 minutes into th vacumm. Because the carpet is placed on the concrete, it is always cold and the padding becomes wet. Try the viewing room as often as you can.

We have already had a carpet cleaning company. We used a product called Milgo. You may need to be cleaned HVE. Do not shampoo. This puts any residue on it. Have it steam cleaned. You'll be amazed how much cleaner and fresher it is. I am always amazed at people who go to their local grocery store, spend $ 20 - $ 30 or more, drag a home machine, then try to clean their floor spreading soap everywhere. Call a carpet cleaner steam cleans. You can often find a very good special going in your area for $ 6.95 to 10.95 cents each. Just do not let them talk to you in a bunch of other stuff as dyeing or resistant odor killers. You might find yourself with a bill for $ 200 +. Just say (after they are there) all you want is steam cleaning at a price they quoted.
But stop putting more chemicals like Febreeze and shampoo the carpet. It's like washing your hair and not rinsing shampoo.
Good luck!

you may need to pull up and replace the padding underneath because it is usually smells.

It's probably a moisture problem mold /. First, you have to correct the problem ... find where the moisture is coming from and stop it ... and clean, including removing the mold.

Once done, rent an ozone generator (about $ 50.00 per day) from a tool rental store. Use it as directed or advised, and the smell is gone for good.

You can have more of a problem carpeting. You may have a problem with a foundation leak causing mold. Get it checked soon.

Do it now

Dealing with a damp carpet, especially filling, is a situation that needs immediate response for health reasons. Once mold is present in the carpet and padding, the best advice is to get rid of these bacteria Articles Laden. The mold can and will pose various respiratory illnesses. Although it may feel frustrated by the cost of removal of floor coverings (especially the padding), in the long run, you'll be much better.
While one of the most important step in a flood is to locate the source and act quickly to remove water. Depending on humidity, temperature and dew point levels will determine the speed of the mold will grow (24-36 hours in ideal condition.
