Could someone help me with plans to build a dog house? I have a Rottweiler puppy, and I was eager to build a dog house. I would like to help with detailed plans to host a rottweiler at his adult size. Must not be something to something special just to get the dog by the weather in South Texas.
What ever u make sure he or she has a place and have a blanketor a big dog if he or she moves, he or she is asleep wen arond and would have low windows so he or she can see out of his dog house or hers, I hope I helped
A dog house is an easy thing to build. You only need 6 pieces of wood and nail them together.
This kennel will accommodate a large dog, but is still usable for small dogs.
The kennel is constructed of 1x6 stock (treated wood) for floor and roof materials for framing 2x2, 2x2 stock (treated wood) for the pads and the ground beneath a sheet of 48 "x 96" x 3 / 8 inch thick exterior-grade plywood, the walls are cut.
Note 1. About Pressure Treated Lumber
Do not use treated wood on the sides of the dog can chew. Pressure treated lumber (PT) contain preservatives that may be toxic to your dog.
In this project, we opted to use treated wood for the roof, floor and skids, it is unlikely that the dog chewing these parts. The walls and woodwork are inside the untreated wood, as these are the parts of a dog is more likely to bite.
If you have any reservations and / or a dog that chews everything in sight, then use untreated wood for the entire kennel. However, if you choose to do, remember that all untreated wood exposed to the weather (except wood which has a natural resistance to decay or decomposition) must be properly sealed and painted to prevent moisture absorption and prolong the life of wood.
Note 2. The cons-plated
plywood exterior has a waterproof, phenolic or melamine glue, called WBP - proof boiling water.
If the exterior plywood is not pressure treated or made of a durable wood resistant to rot, then the cons of plywood should be sealed and painted to prevent moisture absorption and prolong its life .
Note 3. Painting
The untreated wood should be painted using wood primer, enamel undercoat and Super Gloss Enamel. When dry paint is non-toxic to dogs to chew, but no damage to the paint system back to bare wood would eventually allow water and increase the risk that the timber may eventually start to rot.
