When it is better to run household products? My mother has household products that are very old (5-10 years) and she insists on keeping them, because she does not believe they are wrong. Our kitchen cupboard is full .. (My mother has a little obsessive compulsive in her ... she is a fanatic about cleaning). It is the household cleaning products (such as glass cleaners, wood cleaners, oven cleaners, etc.) can throw if they are very old or is it still safe to use? Thank you!
Many of these products contain many chemicals that contain preservatives. You can usually see if they are left as they are now frozen, discolored, or are no longer doing the job properly. If there is a limited life, I think it should say about the product.
Liquids containing bleach will lose the ability to whiten over time if the container has been opened. They will not "go" bad, though, they will simply become less effective at removing mold and stains.
Most other cleaners last virtually forever. My mother does the same thing, and I use cleaner for twenty-years, for years without any problem. (Some people inherit jewelry, I inherited boxes of detergent and cloths J.)
Edit: apparently the name brand cleaner is an obscenity. Who knew?
If she is a fanatic like me about cleaning it is hard to believe that the rate of return to its supply is not like mine I buy supplies every two weeks
I am a fanatic about cleaning, and I pass by all the cleaners, Windex and stuff like in a month!
If she was a fanatic, she would have long been used. It looks like she is a slob.
You'd better use cleaning products rather than throwing them away.
Products we consume have expiration dates because they could make us sick if they go beyond their useful life. The cleaning solvents are used to destroy dirt, dust and dirt .... so I do not understand why they would have any expiration date.
